Privacy Policy

My guiding principle is that I will treat your data, how I would expect my data to be treated.

Note: is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon.  All fees earned (typically around 5% for a book bought through the site) will be donated to charity.

I only collect your first name (optional) and email address in order to put you on my blog digest email list.  I’m not using your information in any other way. I will not sell or pass your details on.

Information Collected Using Cookies and other Web Technologies. This blog uses automated data collection tools such as Cookies and similar technologies to collect certain information, in order to, among other things, to analyze trends, administer the website, tracking users’ movements around the website, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. “Cookies” are small text files that are placed on your hard drive by a Web server when you access the blog (so I am told).

I personally do not administer any of this, but the blog is hosted by Squarespace which does use these technologies. There is also an Amazon Affiliate link, and Amazon might use some of these technologies. You would need to check their privacy policies (same goes for Google, MailChimp and other 3rd party companies).

I may use (or rather the hosted blog service provider might, as I don't personally) both session Cookies and persistent Cookies to identify that you’ve logged in to the Services and to tell how and when you interact with the blog.

“Web Beacons” (also known as clear gifs) are tiny graphics with a unique identifier that may be included on our Services for several purposes, including to deliver or communicate with Cookies, to track and measure the performance of the blog, to monitor how many visitors view the blog.

Unlike Cookies, which are stored on the user’s hard drive, Web Beacons are typically embedded invisibly on web pages (or in an e-mail).

I may receive reports based on the use of Cookies, Web Beacons, APIs, and other similar technologies by third-party services providers. This might be that Amazon, Squarespace, Google Analytics or MailChimp (which runs my email list) use these services.

Log Data. I don’t use logdata, but Squarespace and other 3rd party services might do. As I understand it: Log Data may include information such as a user’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, operating system, the web page that a user was visiting.

ANALYTICS: I may use third-party analytics services, such as Google Analytics and Squarespace, to collect and analyze the non-personally identifiable information described above.  These analytics services use the visitor tracking technology I have described above, such as a Cookie, tracking pixel or other mechanism to collect, use, share and store our users’ data.

You can find more details about how Google Analytics collects, uses and stores users’ data by reviewing the Google privacy policy, located at http:/ In addition, Google Analytics provides you with the ability to opt-out of its tracking services. Details of such opt-out are available at Opting-out of the Google Analytics services will affect only the collection and use of your data by Google Analytics, not by any other party.

Other analytics service providers, also use Cookies, Web Beacons, tags, and scripts, to analyze trends.

I will not share any data you give me. There may be a legal exception:

Information Disclosed for Our Protection and the Protection of Others.  In certain situations, I may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

Use the contact form if I can help or clarify in any way. Or if you want to check if I hold information on you, or wish to alter or delete it
